Dr. Beverly Y. Langford, Ph.D.
Beverly Y. Langford is President of LMA Communication, Inc.® a consulting, training, and coaching firm that works with organizations and individuals on strategic communication, message development, effective interpersonal communication skills, team building, and leadership development.
Also at Georgia State University, she has directed the Robinson College of Business’ Women’s Leadership Forum held annually in partnership with the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
An award-winning teacher, she has received 11 Top Professor awards for Outstanding Teaching for her work in the Professional MBA program. She also received the Faculty Service Award from the Robinson College of Business and a similar award from the RCB Board of Advisors. In 2010, she received the Robinson College of Business Teaching Award. She has represented Georgia State’s Alumni Association as a speaker for GSU alumni groups within corporations, most recently UPS and The Home Depot.
In 2005, her book, entitled The Etiquette Edge: the Unspoken Rules for Business Success, was published by AMACOM press. The updated second edition was available in August 2016, entitled The Etiquette Edge: Modern Manners for Business Success. See the Publications tab (above) for details.
Dr. Langford has been quoted in various publications, including The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Glamour, Men’s Health, Engineering Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Atlanta Business Chronicle, Forbes, and Investor’s Business Daily and has appeared on a number of radio talk shows to discuss areas pertaining to business behavior and interpersonal skills. She is a frequent speaker to both corporate and civic groups, and she has written numerous articles for Atlanta Woman magazine and Womenetics, an online, Atlanta-based magazine.
Active in community affairs, she is past Chairman of the board of directors of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and is currently a member of the board. She has formerly served on the board of Heritage Sandy Springs and the Dunwoody Rotary Club. She has been the Leadership Dimensions facilitator for Leadership North Fulton since the mid-1990s.
She certified in MBTI, the Personal DISCernment Inventory (DISC), and EQ-I 2.0 (Emotional Intelligence).
She received a BA degree from the University of Mississippi, an MA from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University. She is a Certified Course Designer/Developer, and she is certified as a Certified Instructor/Facilitator. Also, certified in Element B EQ Team Atmosphere.
